Be Happy, Be Inspired

Sorry about the cheesy title… I thought I'd do a little 'life' update.
I've recently taken it upon my self to scan in all the family photos we have lying around in old albums and boxes, one: because they go unlooked at for years at a time and two: to make a back up of them should anything happen to them.
It's actually turned out to be a much bigger task than I first anticipated, not only do we seem to have literally thousands of old snaps (I wish I wasn't exaggerating) but actually getting them out of the albums and ready to scan in itself is a whole other mission! needless to say it's going to take me a while. But aside the growing frustrations and monotony of the task I have also been really enjoying being able to look back through all our precious moments as a family. It has given me a much greater appreciation for all the times, My dad in particular had a camera stuck in our faces snapping away. It has to be said he was quite a good photographer actually, and some of the candid shots he'd taken are actually quite beautiful, something I think only someone who really loves taking pictures is able to do. Capturing the moments that weren't quite meant to be preserved, or those moments that are priceless but often missed.
Family photos for me are quite a personal thing, I mean they are something that's generally only interesting to those that they include… I know my boyfriend isn't all that bothered when I say 'look at this one' for the fiftieth time in a row, and I guess thats because they are not his memories, or  of his special people. Which is fine, Don't get me wrong and to be quite honest there are certain photos that I wish weren't part of our archives… (what is with naked bath photos!? and downright embarrassing hairstyles…)
Another thing, I am the youngest of four with a relatively large gap between me and my oldest brother (8 years), so there is actually quite a lot I wasn't 'around for yet' so it's nice to be able to look back at the memories and special moments being made before I was. Seeing baby photos of people you've only ever had memories of as adolescents is nice.
*sentimental moment alert*
Also by doing this apart of me is feeling really nostalgic and sad being that it was my father who took most of the photos its a way I can feel close to him. It's a way for me to be able to connect with him, it's like… I'm seeing things through his eyes through the pictures… I can you know, its like he was there… physically taking the pictures, they represent exactly what he was seeing in that moment, moments that he deemed special enough to document. I'm not sure if this makes sense but like loosing a parent it isn't an easy thing to express. What I'm trying to say is that its really nice, and I'm just feeling a really deep appreciation for my old man right now, and not just my Dad, My Mum took her fair share of the photographs too.
I can see this post becoming quite cheesy and sentimental if I don't reign it in a little so I'll try and sound like less of a cliche!
I'm really glad that my parents decided to documents so much our our lives growing up, at the time it could sometimes feel like an invasion of privacy, who, at 5/6 wants a camera up in their face at 6am when all you want to do is open your birthday presents! All those times we were made to line up as a foursome and 'pose', all the times our dad walked half a mile behind taking pictures of the scenery a glimpse of us in the distance, I guess even the naked bath photos have their place in our family photo archives.
I'm going to end this post by including some of the photographs that I like, I know to 99.9% of you these won't be remotely interesting, I'm not even entirely sure who the 0.01% might be that will find these interesting… But I feel like there is too much text thus far! Even if you don't appreciate the subjects in the pictures I feel like some of these photos merit recognition from a  photography point of view if nothing else.

maybe I was annoyed at someone knocking my drink over!?

classic example of what my dad loved capturing… random!

It's that time of the week again, it seems to come around fast these days!

Song - I'm not going to lie, I'm a big fan of Daniel Bedingfield. There I said it. I just love his voice and his personality, He recently made what I guess would be called a 'comeback' which delighted me no end! He released Stop The Traffik - Secret Fear EP in April this year and I instantly fell in love. My favourite song is actually Secret Fear, which is my song choice for this week. You can download the EP free from his website Here should you wish!

Book or TV - I'm going for another book this week. After finishing the fifty shades trilogy I went in search of my next read… which is The Fault In Our Stars - John Green. I know I'm a little late to this party but better late than never right! I'm about 2/3rds of the way through so far and I'm really enjoying it.

Blog or Youtuber - This week I'm going to share with you a 'youtuber' I discovered hayzbetts this week and I have been loving her videos, I think she is gorgeous!

Product - I have been loving the Wonder Eye Cream from Balance Me, Which I actually got free with this months Glamour. It claims to tighten, smooth and brighten the delicate skin around the eyes, as I've only been using it for around two weeks I can't say that I've noticed a dramatic difference in the appearance of the fine lines around my eyes yet but it definitely brightens the dark circles and makes my eyes look less tired! Mega bonus that it was free!

Photo - This week I haven't taken any notable pictures as I've mostly been lazing around the flat! But I have been digitising all our old family photos, by manually scanning them into our computer! a laborious task but enjoyable none the less (a post to follow about this little project) anyway I have an abundance of photographs that I have 'liked' this week, but alas this post only calls for one.. so I shall have to choose this one… I'm not even sure what it is that I like about this photograph but I do, this is 2/3 of my older brothers taken in around 1984? I just love the composition, and their cheeky little faces!

Dislike of the week - my dislike of the week actually goes to this segment of the blog post! I'm just not sure I like the idea of having to choose and document something that has displeased me! I want to try and be more positive in my outlook and I just feel like this isn't helping that! Plus I generally can't think of only one thing to moan about! So from now on I think I'll replace the 'dislike' with another topic!

So there we go… 6 things that I felt the need to mention this week, I hope you've all had a good week, and once again
Thank you for reading. x

My hair has been an issue for me for as long as I can remember, I don't recall a time where I've ever been entirely happy with how it looks or its condition, this isn't through lack of trying of course. I have very dry ends and relatively greasy roots so you can see why this may cause problems for me.
I put my hair through the daily traumas that a lot of other women do too, like colouring (way to often), blow drying and straightening.

Finding products and methods of getting my hair to look and feel healthier is something I endeavour to do on an almost permanent basis.

I'd like to introduce you to some of the products I have recently purchased to try and counteract the trauma I put my hair though…

'Now you can break this vicious cycle with Full Repair™. The brand new range of care and styling products instantly transforms and repairs the look and feel of overworked hair to create a full-bodied, healthy looking style with natural movement.'

I currently own three of the products from this range, thanks to a 3 for 2 offer in boots. I'm hoping to give them a proper try out over the next few weeks and do a follow up review of the products but for now I'd like to introduce you to some very helpful videos curtesy of John Frieda.

^ In a bid to use less heat (via my straighteners) I wanted to learn how to blow dry my hair in a way that meant I wouldn't necessarily need to straighten my hair afterwards, This video really helped.

I thought I'd also share this one with you, because it's a really simple easy look to recreate that I love.
For more information and videos on the Full Repair™ haircare range, visit the John Frieda® Facebook page at www.facebook.com/johnfriedauk where you can enter to win the entire range.

Again don't forget to look our for a more in depth review of the products I have from this range later on, and as always

Hey,
Another collection post... This time it's my Orly Collection. Orly is another brand I've only recently started to buy from. I love their nail 'treatments' over their colours so far, things such as base coats and top coats etc... Anyway on to the pictures...
Here are swatches of the colours I have, obviously there wouldn't be much point in switching the clear ones...

Thank you for reading.

Hey, its another Sunday Six… lets get started.

Song - Again, I can't really say I've listened to much music again this week… One song that has stuck out to me recently has been If I Had a Gun - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Book or TV - This week i'm going to choose a book, I'm currently reading the Fifty Shades Trilogy, I'm about half way through the last one… I was quite worried about admitted to reading this.. if you've read it you will know its not exactly literary genius… and the genre… well… lets just say I'm glad I'm reading it on my kindle! because then at least you can be pretending to read something else! don't get me wrong I'm no book snob… I follow the crowd as much as the last person… mainly so I can make my own opinions about a book rather than go by what others say. I have to say though, I have quite liked reading fifty shades… in a guilty pleasure kind of way… not that I get a kick out of the content because quite frankly its more cringe than sexy, But I like the characters and there is quite good plot behind all the sex. When I first started reading the book I actually thought it was another book that I'd seen on amazon and couldn't remember the name of… then when I realised it was a different book all together… I'd already gotten into the story! anyway… I'm not making up excuses… I'm reading it and I like it. The End.

Blog or Youtube - This week I'll go for a blog… I'm going to give a little shout out to Emma over at Erratic Glamour , I've followed her for quite a while now, she recently moved over to her new blog… you might remember her as Following the Fashion… she's a lovely girl and often comments on my posts which I really appreciate.

Product -  This week I'll be choosing a nail product… surprise surprise.. I can't rave about this enough, its the Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle… I've used this since I started growing my nails properly back in 2007 and it never fails me. I can go from having nails that are bitten to the point of bleeding to a nice manageable length just past the tips of my fingers in about 2-3 weeks? It's just amazing… the price has risen considerably since I started buying it though, which sucks, but it's still worth it.

Photo - I haven't really taken any photos this week, but I will post this one of our doggies back at home, that I took whilst house/dog sitting last week.

I just think they're so cute.

Dislike of the week - again… I don't really think I have a specific 'dislike' this week… apart from the fact I have no money to spend on nail polish! it all has to go on boring things like bills and rent… it just seems that everything needs paying for this week and its getting me down because I don't earn enough money, and the thought of having to get a second job depresses me.

Anyway, I hope you've all had a good week… it seems to have flown by to me…

Thank you for reading.

This type of post is loosely based on others I've seen of the same ilk. I'll be choosing 5 things I've liked/found/enjoyed over the week following this setup… and then to restore a little reality I'll choose one thing that has annoyed me or that I've disliked etc…

Song - To be honest, I haven't really listend to much music this week, but I did like a song on YouTube which was a Titanium Dubstep cover by Kaytuhpai…

Book or TV - This week I have been re-watching Lost on Netflix. I know, I know it still feels so 2006! Now, I was really disappointed with how it all ended but I when I spotted it on Netflix I thought I'd give it another go... It's amazing what you notice the second time around…

Blog/YouTube - This week I discovered Kaytuhpai on YouTube, as perviously mentioned. They are a couple that do vlogs and music videos etc... And they are really funny!

Product - This week I have been loving ReGen Cream - as recommended by Zoella. My skin seems to like it, and it's a cheap alternative to the Liz Earle moisturisers I have previously been using….

Photo - I thought I'd share a photo that I have either taken myself/liked this week so here it is...

Dislike of The Week - I'm pretty glad to say that I don't really have one this week really... Apart from the schizophrenic weather we've been having... Not a huge fan of all the rain/flooding I must say...
So there we have it...
Thank you for reading.

So, thought I should do an different kind of post rather than a NOTD... But I'm not entirely sure what... My layout has messed up somehow... I was trying to edit the HTML the other day and ending up changing something... And I can't work out which bit it was etc... Not my layout waahhh! I should be able to do it, when I get home and can use my desktop, but right now I only have my iPad with me so it's a little difficult. I'm not really sure what posts to do... Or what people are interested in seeing so if anyone has any ideas feel free to leave a comment or two... Suggestions are always welcome... My Boyfriend told me he doesn't read my blog because he's not interested in nail polish... etc, Which I guess is fair enough... So, just for Fred here is a 'life' post. Where to start? I finished my second year of uni at the beginning of May... It's scary to think that I only have one year left... And then I have to be a 'real' adult. I'm not looking forward to the third year tbh, I'm not really an academic person and have found the whole 'uni' thing really difficult... The third year is going to be a bitch. Let's face it. So... Anyway. Apparently student loan dries up pretty quickly, so for the last few months I've been trying to find a job and with very little success, until last week. It is so difficult trying to get a job in London, you know, this just been really tough... Applying for jobs hat quite frankly you are overly qualified for and getting knocked back is hard to swallow. I got to a point where I was just applying for anything, whether it suited me or not, I was that desperate... Then out of the blue I apply for a job and get a call back the very next day asking me in for an interview. A week later I was fully trained and ready to start work. It's crazy how quick the turn around is... To go from jobless to fully trained in less than a week.. But I guess that's London for you. what else can I bore you with? I don't know... I don't have a lot else going on tbh, So as I said... Any topic/blog post suggestions on the back of a postcard please!

I thought I'd just include some pictures so this post is a little more visually appealing… I picked these beautiful roses from the garden the other day and couldn't resist taking a few pictures…

and here's one of the dogs being cute… just for good measure…

Thank you for reading. X
