Be Happy, Be Inspired

That time of the week has rolled by again!

Song - Some Nights by Fun. I recently found their album on Spotify and I instantly liked this song, I just love the beat to it.

Book - This week's book has to go to The Dukan Diet Book, I'm currently on day 5 of the attack phase! I'm actually pretty excited to be allowed to have vegetables if I'm honest, I never thought I'd say that! pure protein and no fat dairy is all I'm allowed to eat right now, and whilst I'm not finding it too difficult, the meals can be a little boring, and I'll be glad to see an asparagus or two I think!

TV - To be honest, I haven't watched a lot of TV over the last few weeks, other than the TV shows we download (True Blood, Breaking Bad)

Blogger - Technically this is another sell-out choice, as No.1 this blogger doesn't eve have any posts yet, and No.2 he happens to live in the same house as me! MY boyfriend decided to join the dark side and start blogging, I say "start" he's chosen a layout… he'll be doing tech reviews to recipes so when he finally gets posting it would be cool if you had a look. Here is the link.

Product - A few weeks ago I ventured into The Body Shop, originally I wanted to pick up another Cherry Blossom Body Mist, But they were out of stock so I had a sniff around and got a Indian Night Jasmine Body Mist - is a lovely musky floral scent and I really like it. I also got the Atlas Mountain Rose scent too, But I think I prefer the Jasmine, its only £7 for the 100ml mist which is great for your handbag.

Photo - I took this photo whilst on holiday last Aug, I love a good sunset. The in-laws have just gone back for another week but unfortunately we couldn't join them on this occasion!

Thank you for reading

I just thought I'd share with you a little trick I've just learnt.
I can't remember what the website was that I saw this on and some of you may already be aware of it. Basically it's a DIY temporary tattoo that is super easy!
The slightly harder way dictates that you will need tracing paper, rubbing alcohol, liquid eye liner and liquid plaster spray.
For that method you basically print out the design you want to wear, trace over it with a pen and position it whereever you want it, I believe you then rub the design with the alcohol so that it transfers to the skin, after which you can trace over it with your liquid eye liner and proceed to the next step.

I've just tried doing my own tat, but I just did it freehand as it is writing anyway, so if you just fancy doing it that way it's fine. All I did, after I was done creating my design was wait for it to completley dry and spray it with the liquid plaster spray! Not overly generously but a good layering.
After it had dried again, I just dusted some translucent powder over the top, as it was a little too shiny and to dull down the black a little.
That was it, I'm not sure how long it will last but it's a cheap alternative to having the real thing, or just trying on a design for size if you are thinking of having an actual tattoo, or even a fun way to accessorize on a night out.
I'm kinda tempted to go and get this done, but I'm not sure my mother would approve of me getting another one! (I only have two small ones though) :)

Thank you for reading.

P.S Happy 200th blog post to me!!

In a previous post I mentioned reviewing some of the products from the John Frieda Full Repair range... Well here we are!
I'm going to talk about the Shampoo and Conditioner... I'm not going to go into all the jargon and talk about what they claim to do etc... I'm going to give an honest and frank review of how they made my hair feel, because I think that's what counts here... You judge a product by how it changes or enhances the appearance of whatever body part it is aimed at, right?

Basically I really like these products. They definitely improved the condition of my hair during the time I used them, my hair was in a very sorry state (we're talking completely fried ends from trying to ombré) it felt stronger and looked shiner too, I also noticed that it dried less frizzy when left to air dry.
To be honest that's all I have to say, I liked using them and felt they were beneficial to my beauty regime.

So there we go, buy them.
Thank you for reading.

...of the rest of my life? Is that the saying? Either way, changes are being made and I'm going to do this once and for all. I'm sick of being a broken record.

I'm going to be doing The Dukan Diet. I have a long way to go, But I'm determined to get there.

Wish me luck.

Yes, a sunday six actually posted on a Sunday! who'd have thought.

Song - This weeks song goes to Cher. Now, believe it or not I actually sang this song at a karaoke night last weekend… My first time ever singing karaoke (without getting stage fright and running off to the toilets. Yes that actually happened, in front of pretty all of my partners family) anyway, I digress. The song is Believe, this was my favourite song when it came out, I thought I was the coolest 7 year old ever. I just loved it. I think it was those funny tube things she had in her hair in the music video… it just fascinated me.

Book - This week I have started reading Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion, basically a zombie romance novel. I'm loving it so far though.

TV - True Blood is awesome as always so I've loved watching the latest episode of that this week. one word… Eric.

Youtuber - I thought I should choose a you tuber this week, so this week it goes to… grav3yardgirl. I found her videos a few weeks ago, she's definitely not everyones cup of tea, but I just think she's funny, and really interesting to watch.

Product - This weeks product, is technically four, But I make the rules so its fine. I got this mini Vitamin E set from The Body Shop, for £10 and I'm really loving the products so far. The cleanser is possibly one of the best I have tried, and the moisturisers are really lovely. I'm very tempted to go and buy the full size products but the are a little on the pricey side. However, if you are very quick, The Body Shop website has a 'buy two get two free' offer on at the moment!

Photo - My sunflower is doing really well, it's about 6ft tall now! I've been taking pictures of it regularly, as I am going to make a gif! I came home the other day and this little fella was positively engrossed helping himself to my nectar, I was stood there taking close up pictures and stuff but he wasn't bothered at all! I love bees.

There we go, another sunday six. Enjoy your Sunday.

Thank you for reading. x

Sorry for the lack of posts recently.
As I've mentioned I've been working a lot and just haven't had the time to blog, which saddens me!

Anyway I mentioned before about doing a Kindle review so I'm going to do that now. I'm hopefully going to get a few post scheduled up for next week, as I have a couple of days off now.

So, lets get to the point.
My Kindle was given to me as a birthday present. It was one of those times where you just don't know what you want, I'd umm'd and arrr'd over whether to get one for months.
I'm an old romantic when it comes to reading books, I love the smell, the feel and even just knowing how much of the book you've read already and how gratifying it feels.
I didn't think I'd ever convert to something like a kindle because I just didn't think I would have the same experiences I have when reading a physical book.
Anyway, back to my birthday, It was getting nearer and nearer and the bf was pushing me for a suggestion as to what I wanted, So I just went for it and said a Kindle please.
and that was that.

We we're due to go on holiday over my birthday period and he went out and bought it early for me which was a lovely surprise. I'd already put about 10 books on it before we left the house, thats when the love affair began.

lets go through some pro's and cons.

pros

  • It's a lot easier to read than books, as in physically - it's light, easy to hold and you don't have to turn any pages, which is you read in bed like I do can get a little annoying. Trying to get yourself in a comfortable position so you can hold the book and turn pages etc.
  • You can carry hundreds of books around with you at any one time, now I don't know about you but trying to carry more than one physical book around with you at a time is hard let alone hundreds, so it definitely wins that one.
  • The battery life is pretty good, now I know you can't really compare that to reading a physical book so this comment is probably redundant.
  • You can get pretty cases for it, I know this isn't a priority for everyone but I have a little bit of a thing for cases… iPhone, iPad, kindle. I even dabble in making my own so this is something I take seriously. If I can get a pretty floral case for it then I'm sold.
  • Privacy, Now this isn't really a huge thing but I like the fact that I'm not brandishing about what I'm reading to the rest of the world. Its not that I read anything particularly controversial or anything but sometimes you might be reading something you don't necessarily want the rest of the tube to know about… *ahem*50 Shades of Grey*cough* so in that respect it's good. Of course that also means you can sometimes miss opportunities to strike conversation about what you are reading but overall I don't make a habit of talking to strangers so it's not a big issue.
Now I want to discuss a few cons
  • Not a huge amount of content yet, now don't get me wrong there are thousands of books available in kindle format, which is great, but there has been the odd occasion that I haven't been able to get a certain title on my kindle.
  • obviously it isn't backlit, which I know is the whole point because its supposed to emulate reading a physical book as much as possible, all it really means is that you have to buy a separate book light if you are planning on reading it at night etc… which can be annoying as the lights you can buy are generally not very good and don't last very long.
  • The other issue I have is that I don't often read in the bath anymore, because I'm just too scared I'll drop it in! bath time reading used to be prime reading time for me, there is nothing more relaxing than being in a nice hot lush bath and getting engrossed in your book. If you drop a physical book in the bath, ok its annoying but really not big deal… let it dry, you're good to go. Drop your kindle in the bath and you have a little bit more of a problem!
Overall, I'm a huge convert. I love reading from my kindle and I love the freedom I have when it comes to reading. You don't get any less engrossed in the story because you're not reading from an actual book, all the physical attributes that come from reading a 'real' book are not missed, personally. I still get emotionally involved in what I'm reading, which to me is the main reason to read in the first place, to connect and experience your own emotional journey through whatever story you are reading, To meet new characters and learn and to have your own personal image of those people.
ANWAY
There we go, a bit of gush for you.

So, If you are in two minds about whether to make the switch, go for it. It doesn't mean you can't still read actual books, but it does mean you can have a lot more freedom and choice about how and what you read.
This post is all just personal opinion so I appreciate that not everyone will feel the same way as me. Thats absolutely fine, Have a nice day.

Thank you for reading.

I forgot to do my Sunday Six AGAIN! I guess it'll have to be a Monday Six instead!

Ok,

Song - This week it goes to The National Anthem, I've been loving the Olympics and getting all patriotic whenever one of our athletes took to the stand to be awarded a gold medal. I love the Queen and the royal family, not going to lie! God save the queen.

Book - Last week I finished reading Before I Fall, which is a book about a teenage girl who dies in a car crash and has to relive her last day on earth over and over again. You start of not liking her at all because she comes across as a stuck up spoilt brat, but but the end of the book you get to see many different sides to her. It was a good read, nothing too heavy... Apart from the fact that's she's dead I guess.

TV - This week I caught up on the latest episodes of Breaking Bad that I hadn't seen yet, and it's just wicked. (Ha, 90s kid or what! Wicked man!) I love that show.

BBlogger - I haven't really found anyone new that I like this week... So I'll just give a shutout the the latest person to follow my blog... Which is... Amanda Johansson thank you for following

Product - My product of the week is technically two products... I'll be doing a full review of these soon but wanted to mention them already... John Frieda Full Repair shampoo and conditioner. My hair has been loving these recently and I'm nearly finished so I'll need to buy replacements! Boo!

Photo - This weeks picture is one I took whilst out in Horsham with my Aunty and Brother, we walked down a really cute alley way that reminded me of something from Harry Potter! Plus the filter I used on the picture is called Hagrid so it seemed fitting!

So there we go another six things I have liked over the week, if a little late!

Thank you for reading. X

So I thought I'd do a little update for anyone that's interested.
My posts have been a little thin on the ground recently and that's partly due to the fact I've taken on a lot more hours at work and partly because I haven't really had anything to blog about.
Where to start? I feel like this summer has gone really quickly considering I finished uni at the beginning of May. I'm getting quite worried about third year, I just get the feeling it's going to be a whole other ball game compared to first and second year, but against all odds I passed both years with decent grades so hopefully I can pull something out of the bag next year. I'm hoping to get a 2:1, I just think a first is too much to sweat over tbh.
What else have I been doing with my summer? Not a lot tbh, living in an expensive city and having no student loan left doesn't bode well. I've been getting a lot of reading in though, my kindle has certainly come up trumps. I'm going to dedicate a whole post to my kindle because I just love it so much.

I'm currently at work, and it's super quiet so I thought I'd take the time to blog... Seemingly about nothing! But alas a post is a post!

What can I leave you with? Hmm
Probably nothing of interest... I'm sorry I'll come back when I'm less lame.
Thank

ooopps! so I've only just realised I forgot to post my 'Sunday Six' last week. I've just started working a lot more hours at work and it completely slipped my mind. Although with how quite it is at work I might as well be sat there blogging!
Anyway let's get into it...

Song - I'm going to go with a really cheesy classic this week. I am what I am by Gloria Gaynor. I love it, I'm sorry. I had it on loudly whilst doing the mountain of washing up that was growing its own micro culture, and it instantly brightened my mood.

Book or TV - This week it definitely has to go to TV, what with the worlds greatest sporting event taken place on my doorstep! I'm really loving the Olympic coverage, Team GB! My Boyfriend is actually working for OBS on the Basketball court and he was on actual TV! Ha love it.

Blogger/YouTuber - I'm going to be a sellout and say go and watch the Shaytards if you don't already, as I really haven't found anyone new for a while!

Product - Technically the product I have been loving this 'week' was only actually purchased yesterday! But u love it that much already I'm going to say it anyway. (I could just save it for next weeks post but oh well I've started typing now!)
It is The Body Shop Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil. It comes in a pen applicator with a doe foot shaped cuticle pusher on the lid. You twist the end to release the product and simply brush if over your cuticles. Its worked wonders already and absorbs really quickly into the skin.

Photo of the week - This is a picture I found of our dog, taken when she was about 3? She was a Jack Russell/Corgi but she sadly passed away earlier this year. It's amazing how much of an impact a pet can have on a family unit. She was an amazing pet and friend.  I miss her so much. RIP Lady Lester 1997 - 2012

I still need to decide on a 6th item for this post… hmm…
I might well just split the Book and TV section into separate items as I watch and read in equal measure if I have the time so I could probably choose at least one thing from each category per week! anyway I'll leave that until next week! so here are my sunday six (technically five)
Also, Sorry for the stock photos… I know its lame but what can you do!

Thank you for reading.
