Be Happy, Be Inspired

Hi,
I wanted to share a few pictures of the makeup I wore to my work christmas party,
Before                                                   After

I used a Catrice Palette previously mentioned here for the shadows and the glitter eye liner is by Collection. The photo's do not do it justice, the glitter liner is gorgeous. The black liner is by 17 and I used Clinique High Impact mascara, That's about it!

*excuse the terrible skin/spots.

Thank you for reading.

*I'm going to moderate this a little as I'm in the UK and some of it doesn't make sense.

1. Favourite Candle scent?
I'm loving Sandal wood at the minute.

2. Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?
Coffee all the way, the only thing that gets me out of bed on a cold morning.

3. Do you switch up your makeup routine for the season?
Generally my skin gets a little drier so I switch to more moisturising products. I tend to wear different perfume as well, less sweet.

4. Favourite Christmas food?
I'm a big food lover, so its pretty hard for me to choose a favourite. lets just say the whole christmas dinner ensemble.

5. Hats or scarves?
Scarves. Hats just make my hair a mess.

6. Most worn sweater?
anything with a hood generally.

7. Must have Fall nail polish?
Again, I love nail polish so choosing a favourite is pretty hard. I tend to favour darker polishes, gun metal grey, dark purple, but an all time favourite is Rage by Orly. It's so pretty and perfect for the party season.

8. Football games or jumping in a pile of leaves?
Going to have to decline both of those. Do people really jump in leaves?

9. Skinny jeans or leggings?
Leggings or tights (Primark's Extra Cosy tights are perfect for winter.)

10. Boots or Uggs?
Has to be boots. I never caught on to the whole Ugg boot thing, plus they seem so expensive for a glorified pair of slippers.

11. What is your #1 favorite thing about winter?
I love wrapping up warm, and watching all my favourite xmas films. and snow.

12. Do you have a song that gets you in the Christmas mood or just a song you're loving at the moment?
Slade's - Merry xmas Everyone is the one.

Hi there.

so... it's been a while hasn't it? what 3, 4 months?
I've been meaning to update this blog for a while but it just hasn't happened. Better late than never right? And what better time than just before Christmas! well I say that it's still a month away but I'm so excited I could burst. I'm thinking about doing a few tag posts to get me back into the swing of things, but I guess I should do a little update first.

I'm working full time now, which is good. I'm really enjoying it and it's not in retail which is awesome. Last week I graduated, which was actually pretty cool. The ceremony was as the O2 arena (indigo2). My mum came to stay with us for a few days and I took time off work to spend with her and my brother, it was lovely.

Other than that I'm just working, and enjoying my weekends off.
I'm going to keep this brief, so maybe this will be a comeback? Maybe not. But for now, hello! Happy holidays! And thank you for reading.

xoxo

Firstly, Just take a few minutes to take in what you can see above…

Ok, Ready?… good. When I heard that Five Guys were opening a UK branch I was so excited to try it. If you haven't seen this, and subsequently this please go and watch it and then return. Anyway… so Five Guys.. We decided to go on a Friday lunchtime, initially we thought we'd have to queue for quite a while, being that it was lunchtime, and a Friday, and 27 degrees, but actually it was surprisingly 'fast' which is how I like my 'fast food'.

I won't go into too much detail about the restaurant because I don't think it's relevant, it has a busy atmosphere, lots of staff, lots of customers. You can eat in or take away etc it's a nice place and the layout is nice but it's not the kind of place you go to for the atmosphere. You go for the burger, and the one I had yesterday quite frankly could have been handed to me by a tramp in the street and I would have devoured every inch of it the same way.
I decided to go for a bacon cheeseburger, with lettuce, mayo, and grilled onions. I also had a side of 'light' fries, but more on those later.

The burger comes with two patties as standard, or you can order a version with just one. All the ingredients are prepared fresh the same day, the burgers, salad even the fries are hand cut in the morning. They even have a board telling you where 'today's potatoes' are from. Apparently, they don't have fridges, because everything is so fresh and they do not need to keep anything long enough that it needs to be refrigerated.  I can't confirm whether that is actually true but it was written on the wall so? Either way, I'm impressed.

The burger was amazing. I literally can't fault it in any way. The meat was juicy and tender, the toppings actually stayed in the bun. I was so impressed with how well it kept its form, like literally, nothing spilled over the edges and it didn't fall apart as you were eating. I don't know how they do it. The combination of toppings was perfect for me and you get to mix and match so you can pretty much have it however you want for no extra cost. Talking of which... Was it worth the £8+ price tag? I'd have to say I'm still undecided on that one,  it was amazing but £8 amazing? I don't know. That's pricey for a burger. Even in London, that's expensive. But it was a damn good burger. From the toasted bun to the crispy bacon. Everything just worked for me.

Now I want to discuss the fries... I have to say these were a letdown. Don't get me wrong they had a nice flavor but they just didn't 'bite back'. They just weren't crispy enough for my liking. The portion was huge even for their smallest and if I'd have known I would have gotten some to share rather than had my own portion. Depending on your viewpoint having big portions may not seem like a bad thing, you get your money's worth but at the same time if half of them are just going to go to waste I'd rather just not bother. I wouldn't get fries if I went again because they didn't really do anything for me.

I did however love the drinks machine (as sad as that sounds). You basically got a choice of about 50 flavours, from regular to diet/zero of all kinds like coke, Fanta, sprite etc, and then a choice of different flavors Inc lime, fruit punch, vanilla... And loads more. I liked having such a variety. So thumbs up on that one.

Here's how I rate it:-
The burger: 8/10
The fries: 4/10

Overall I'd say it's definitely worth a visit, as for whether I'd go again? For the burger, yes. If Patty & Bun were closed... But it is still worth the initial visit and like I said... The burger is really good. I just think for a fast food joint it's a little overpriced.

Anyone else been to Five Guys yet?

As always,
Thank you for reading.

Today I want to talk about life after finishing a degree, and what that means. Now, I'm not expert, granted I've only been a 'post graduate' officially for about a week, before that I wasn't officially 'studying' but nervously awaiting my results. It's a strange time, like being I'm limbo. Not knowing if all the hard work was worth it but also not wanting to know incase it's disappointing news etc. and then there's all the talk about job hunting. I started working in retail at the age of 16 when I got a part time job in my local cooperative supermarket. It was... A valuable? Experience. In the sense that it made me realize I never wanted to work in retail again after I left, but alas, when you only have retail experience finding other part time work is often impossible. And so it came to pass that I have since gone from establishment to establishment. Working in retail has been, on the whole fine. It doesn't set my life on fire, and I certainly do not have the tolerance for certain aspects of the job but it has supported me financially throughout all of my educational endeavors and good customer service is a valuable attribute in other areas of life too. Anyway, I digress! Where was I? Right, so I'm now a 'graduate' and that means finding a 'real' job. One that will get me on to the first rung of my chosen career ladder. One that leads to a classroom. Yep. I want to teach. It hasn't been a decision I've made lightly. And over certainly been known to change my mind when it comes to what I want to 'do' with my life, but for now this is what I want. This is what I have worked towards for the last three years and now it's finally time to start making my way towards that ladder and climbing my way up. Am I ready? Maybe, I don't know. I can only find out if I try. My immediate plan is to gain a little experience working in a school before going on to a PGCE. And so far I'm mildly optimistic. This is major for me. I am not optimistic; I will find something negative to focus on in almost any situation. But it's something I'm working on. How am I supposed to expect someone to have faith in me if I don't have faith in myself? If I don't think I'm good enough for a job, there's 100% chance the employer will agree with me, so it's all about having a positive attitude. You know what? I am good enough, I have worked hard and I am proud of myself for achieving what I have. If I don't get a job offer after and interview, it just makes room for the next opportunity. That or I just wasn't good enough, but you have to have faith that something will come up. Someone will want you. It might take months, endless applications and knock backs but something will come up. It's hard work and often demoralizing trying to find a job, but you have to know your own worth, even getting offered an interview is a big achievement, regardless of the result. This week I have three interviews for various roles and I'm nervous. I'm not going to lie. I have sat here and thought, 'I'm not good enough, I won't get offered a job, they're going to think I'm stupid' but then I look back and think about what I have managed to achieve so far and how far I've come and I think, you know what!? I am good enough. If they don't think I'm a good fit, then I just have to accept that and look for the next opportunity. I'm not sure why I felt l needed to write about this subject but I guess it's quite a prominent aspect of my life right now. This is the start of my journey, and I'm a little bit excited. Ask me again in six months time if I'm still optimistic, but for now! Lets do this!

Hey,
just a quick one showing you a lipgloss I recently got free with a magazine (can't remember which atm. Fail.) Anyway I think it's a gem.

It's a sheer berry pink shade with subtle gold shimmer running through it. It smells and tastes like sweets. Plus it has a mirror down one side. I can't fault this lipgloss to be honest!

Sweet for summer. Thank you for reading.

Hey,

I decided I needed a little treat and we all know what that means… buying nail polish! In particular 'Stand by Your Manny' which is part of the Modern Family Collection for Nicole by OPI. These retail for £7.99 in the UK.
I was passing a Superdrug and thought it would be rude if I didn't go in for a quick look around. This particular store has recently started selling Nicole by OPI polish so I had a quick look and my eyes fell upon this little beauty. The pictures do not do this polish justice. A cornflower blue shimmer is not a shade I usually go for but I'm loving it all the same and it's so nice for summer.
without flash                                                with flash
It's quite sheer and needed three coats, which you can see still doesn't make it opaque but it's not hugely noticeable. The application was nice, it goes on smoothly and dries relatively quickly.
I haven't worn it long enough to comment on how long it lasts before chipping but so far so good.

Any other shades worth picking up?

Thank you for reading.

Well hello.
I thought I might take the time to review a product for you. As the title suggest it is for the Palmers 'Natural Bronze' gradual tanner. I've actually been using this for a good six months now, on and off and feel it is a good time to review it, being that it's 'summer' and everything. I should start out by saying that I do not 'tan' naturally, I burn (even when wearing factor 50), go horrendously red, my skin peels off and then I'm back being pale again. I'll be honest tanning isn't really high on my beauty priority list it tends to be a laborious task that quite frankly I haven't got the patience for. All the exfoliating, moisturizing applying etc. etc. just seems like too much effort. It always seems to go patchy, and there are places that really... You just can't reach. Maybe it's me; maybe I'm doing it all wrong.

Anyway! Back to the review right, what I'm getting at here is that I'm lazy; I can't be bothered to go through all that rigormall. I first spotted this product in December; I think it was on offer in boots at half price, which made it about £2.66! I was feeling drained and run down, and needing a pick me up during the long hard winter months. Ok it wasn't that bad, but I thought I would give it a go, maybe it would bring me hope that summer would come. Eventually. I also remember being distinctly addicted to TOWIE at the time; this could have influenced my desire to look a little 'healthier'.

Not holding out much hope I gave it a try one night, it was really easy to apply, you literally just treat it like a moisturizer. I was impressed by how quickly it absorbed, and although there is biscuit scent that is often associated with fake tan, I was happy. Mixed with the cocoa butter you actually end up smelling like cake, as my boyfriend commented on night. I like the smell, I think it's quite nice but others may not be a fan.

I woke up the next day to not only discover that its claims of being a 'gradual' Tanner are slightly understated but that it also provided a really even looking natural tan. After only one use, I was impressed. The color built up really nicely over the next week or so and I ended up with quite a significant change in skin color. Considering that it is a moisturizer, the tanning ingredients pack a punch. I also found that because it was a moisturizer the areas that usually look patchy (elbows etc.) didn't.

I really love this product, it's so easy to build a natural looking tan in only a few applications, and my skin feels so soft after using it. There's so little effort involved in this that it makes my tanning routine super easy.

I'm not sure if the arm picture helps at all but hopefully you can get an idea of what it looks like and that it's even etc.

Well, I hope this has been informative.
Happy tanning?
Thank you for reading.

Is this going to be my comeback in to the blogging world?
possibly.

Although... I'm not entirely sure I have anything of value to add to the world of blogging anymore. Did I ever?

I guess an update.

Today is Fathers Day so I guess a nod to the old man himself is in order, and all other fathers etc etc Happy Sunday to everyone else.

I've not really got a lot else to up date on. I finished all the work from my degree back in May so now I'm just waiting for my results, more specifically my dissertation grade.
Needless to say I'm anxious about that! Hopefully, the grade will be up soon but in true uel style there is no information anywhere to say when that will be.

Other than that I've been spending a lot of time watching tv shows on netflix and applying for full time TA jobs. I really want to get out of retail and into a 'proper' full time job. I know these things take time but I'm so inpatient with it. I know! I've not even graduated yet but still. I want out.

So, there we go. This is all I've got in the way of an 'update'. yep. really.

I would upload a picture pr something but I'm at work right now so do not have that facility.
ha.
lamest post ever.

This is going to my review of a little burger place called Meat Liquor. It was my birthday last week and I decided that I wanted to spend my time drinking cocktails and eating burgers… and where better to do than than MEATliquor?
I had read and heard previous reviews of this place and really wanted to see for myself what all the fuss was about.

Firstly I was anticipating having to wait to be seated, and in order to avoid queuing for too long decided to head there for around 5pm to try and beat the queues, luckily we managed to get seated straight away without having to queue at all which was great. We sat down and started to look at what was on the menu.
Now, two members of the group had already been before so had a pretty good idea about what to expect and it was pretty much agreed that we would a selection of starters/ sides etc to share and then out own individual burgers.

Firstly we ordered drinks! cocktails mainly and the odd beer, very nice! went down a treat. Not a huge amount to say about the cocktails they were pretty standard, nothing particularly great about them but nothing bad either! Also they had a good selection of flavors.

Next out were the starters. We ordered Deep Fried Pickles, Onion Rings, and Chicken Wings, this came with a blue cheese sauce. I didn't managed to get a picture of these because everyone pretty much just demolished the tray within minutes. Everything was delicious. The chicken wings had a really original flavour and the blue cheese sauce was just amazing. I loved the pickles too. Everything had just the right amount of grease to it too you know? Nothing felt too heavy, the batter on the pickles and onion rights was crispy and light and had a great flavor.

After a short while, (the tray for the starters had only just been finished and taken away) the mains came out, I feel like this picture just doesn't do it any justice whatsoever but seriously. This food was awesome. I really don't know how to elaborate further. The burgers were really tasty (I ordered a Dead Hippy incase you were wondering), the meat was juicy, and not overly seasoned and the fillings in the burger complimented the flavor of the meat really well. I mean, it was just a really good burger, again not too greasy, although it was pretty greasy by my standards it wasn't bad at all, in comparison to a Patty and Bun burger that is swimming in oil. They held their form really well too, Like they didnt fall apart as soon as you picked it up. Anyway, overall I'd rate the food a 9/10 for flavor. The fries were amazing, considering they were covered in cheese and chilli etc they remained crispy, The Chilli fries were the best for me, the flavor of the chilli was unreal. The service was really good too, staff were attentive and happy to get extra drinks/kitchen rolls (You will need this!) on request. The only thing I will pick up on is that fact that they did seem to get a little edgy the longer we stayed, However I appreciate that we we're quite a large group and the restaurant was becoming increasingly busy. I wouldn't say we were rushed to leave, but it did feel a little like they were hanging around just to eye up when the table would be free.

Ok, I think I've rambled on enough about burgers. Basically if you like a good burger you have to try one from Meat Liquor. The price? Well, it was reasonable, a little expensive, but really worth it. I think when I go again, Yes, 'when' not 'if!' I'd forgo the cocktails as they really pushed the price up on the bill and to be honest I wasn't blown away, We did order a fair few each though, but I think next time I'd maybe just order the one to go with the food.

So, there we go. I need to stop writing now because I'm getting hungry just talking about it! Yum

Thank you for reading.

drool!
